Baltic Dance Platform

May 19th–21st 2022 in Tallinn
The Baltic Dance Platform takes place in Tallinn. The three-day performance program brings together some of the most remarkable contemporary dance artists from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, selected by an international jury. The program also includes pitch presentations, workshops for professionals, discussions and an evening festival club. Official website: www.balticdance.org

The first Baltic Dance Platform took place in 2019 in Vilnius, and the second one will be held on 19th-21st May in Tallinn, Estonia. In total, 104 applications were submitted for the open call for Baltic Dance Platform. The national selection took place in December, and each participating country‘s jury had to select no more than 10 dance performances, 10 pitch presentations and 3 workshops.

 

Members of the national juries were: Andrius Katinas (LT/FI) , Ingrida Gerbutavičiūte (LT/DE) and Stine Nilsen for Lithuania; Sintija Siliņa (LV), Rūta Pūce (LV) and Bek Berger (LV/AU) for Latvia; Jüri Nael (EE), Liisi Aibel (EE), Kerstin Schroth (FI).

An international jury began its work in January with the difficult task of selecting and compiling the final list of participants for the Baltic Dance Platform. The jury was made up of performing arts professionals and leaders from different countries:

Stine Nilsen (NO), an artistic director of international Oslo dance festival “Coda“;

Kerstin Schroth (FI), artistic director of dance festival “Moving in November“;

Bek Berger (AU/LV), independent art curator and producer;

Gwen Hsin-Yi Chang (TW/LU), dance and circus producer and manager;

Nastya Proshutinskaya (RU), art critic and independent dance curator.

As a result 9 performances, 16 pitches and 3 workshops were selected to be presented in Tallinn.


The Baltic Dance Platform has been initiated a joint effort of the three Baltic States. It is organized by Independent Dance Stage from Estonia, Latvian Dance Information Centre and Lithuanian Dance Information Centre.
